We are very excited to have students back on campus here at Los Lunas Middle School, and safety is our primary concern. Please understand that we must follow strict COVID 19 precautions and procedures and your cooperation will be needed and greatly appreciated.

What can students bring to school?

All students must wear an appropriate face mask at school. Students will be allowed a backpack to carry their iPads, chargers, and headphones with microphone capability into the building every day. Students may want to bring a water bottle from home, as there will not be any water fountains available. Due to the pandemic, there will be limited use of paper. Assignments and homework will continue to occur on the student’s iPad and be turned in electronically. Therefore, students must bring their charged iPad to and from school daily. Repeated failure to bring the device may result in a return to remote learning.

What will the school day look like?

Students will be allowed on campus beginning at 7:45 am, and will need to be prepared to have their temperature checked and fill out a wellness check. Students will report to their 1st period classroom (advisory) and will receive breakfast. Classes begin daily at 8:05 AM. Repeated tardiness or absence could result in a return to remote learning. In-person learning means your child will attend school in person M-F 8:05am -1:30 pm. Students will follow their current class schedule.

Students will remain socially distanced at all times including during passing periods, lunches, arrival and dismissal, and will follow all LLMS Matrix procedures and established school rules. Students that do not follow the LLMS Matrix rules could result in a return to online learning.

How do I pick up my child early/drop off late?

Parents/guardians will not be allowed to enter the building or school grounds. Parents who need to either check-out a student, or drop off a student after school has started, will call 505-865-7273 from the parking lot to contact the office staff. Students will then be walked to or from the parking lot where parents will sign-out/sign-in the student. Parents/guardians must be authorized on PowerSchool and have their driver’s license to pick up students. Classes begin daily at 8:05 AM.

Repeated tardiness or absence could result in a return to remote learning. Transportation changes must be made at least one hour in advance to allow for proper authorization and notification.

Will I be able to drop off items for my child?

LLMS cannot accept delivery of food --from restaurants or fast-food establishments or any type of deliveries (flowers, balloons, etc. for holiday or personal events such as birthdays). Please limit bringing items to students to those that are absolutely essential, such as medication.

What behavior is expected from my child at LLMS?

In order for everyone’s safety, students must comply with these guidelines set for from the Department of Health and the New Mexico Public Education Department. They are listed for students on the LLMS Hybrid Matrix attached. Repeated failure to comply may result in a return to online learning.

Students must:

  • Wear an appropriate mask correctly in school
  • Remain socially distanced
  • Remain in designated areas only
  • Use correct entrance-ways and follow directions
  • Comply with classroom procedures
  • Tell an adult if not feeling well
  • Do not come to school if sick
  • Wash/sanitize hands thoroughly and regularly
