What is Battle of the Books?
Students read up to 20 books. Students at LLMS meet with the librarian weekly to read, discuss, and answer questions in preparation for competition at the New Mexico Battle of the Books.  Judges require answers to random questions of title of the book and name of author.  Points are assigned to title of the book and author names.  The teams with the most points win first through third place medals.

When is Battle of the Books?
We are looking forward to the competition in Los Lunas at Los Lunas High School for the second year.

Why should middle school students participate in Battle of the Books?
Students will be placed on random teams approximately 4-6 per team with members from different New Mexico Schools.  Teams assign a team captain to state answers to title and author of the books.  Team members assist with answers and so team work is emphasized.  This is truly enjoyable for all involved.
