Immunization Requirements for 2023-2024 School Year

New Mexico law requires that all students be immunized against certain communicable diseases.  These requirements are determined by the NM Department of Health (NMDOH) in collaboration with the NM Vaccine Advisory Committee using recommendations from the national Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP).  The state’s official immunization requirements for schools and childcare facilities are released annually and can be accessed by clicking here.

  • Per the NMDOH, specific immunizations are mandated for all students registering at Los Lunas Schools specific to grade level.
  • Children need immunizations to protect them from dangerous, communicable childhood diseases.
  • For your child’s protection and the protection of other children, students will be provisionally registered for school with final enrollment after NMDOH required immunizations are current and verification has been received by the school.
  • Below is a summary of required immunizations.

All students entering LLS campuses are required to have these immunizations.  If their immunizations are not current, parents will need to make an appointment with their health care provider to update immunizations.  Please note that one dose is required after the 4th birthday for DTap, Polio, and MMR.  *Final enrollment for students will not be completed until they have received all the required immunizations. *

  • 5 doses of DTap
  • 4 doses of Polio
  • 3 doses of Hepatitis B
  • 2 doses of MMR
  • 2 doses of Varicella
  • 2 doses of Hepatitis A**
  • 1 dose of Tdap*
  • 1 dose of Meningococcal*

**Kinder students

*7th-12th grades

Thank you for following up on this important health care issue.
